The Times We Live In
I am just amazed at the difference of one person to another in this world.
This headine outlines the story of an Amish grandfather that is saying that he forgives the man that intended to Molest his granddaughter but instead shot and killed her.
Another headline that was right next to it was -
Dad admits killing suspected molester
This story is about a man that beat to death a 77 year old man that was suspected in molesting his 5 year old daughter. The police say that their was no evidence in the molestation except that the girl said that the man touched inappropriately two times.
The issue is that I find myself understand both men. I pitty the fool that would do something to one of my kids yet I understand the need to forgive. Maybe a good ass whipping would be good enough scratch that - there is nothing good enough to punish a person who molests a child.
Here is Texas today they are considering the death penalty for second time offenders against children under 14. I believe in the death penalty but at the same time I do not know if that is going to be enough of a deterrent. The reason I say that is they say that if a person knows that if they as facing death for their crime that there is more probability that the rapist is going to kill the victim so they cannot testify.
I really do not know the solution but I do know that this can be a pretty screwed up world that we live in.
