Steve Erwin – The Crocodile Hunter – Dies

It is a sad day for animal enthusiasts as Steve Erwin – The Crocodile Hunter – has died.

It apparently happened file filming underwater. He was pierced through the heart by a sting ray.

I have to say that although I really am not that much into Animal Planet and other such shows but this really made me sad. The reason is that he was a really cool guy that could keep you on the edge of your seat by getting next to deadly animals.

He would always do something like “Look at this xxxxx snake, it is the most deadly snake in the Northern Hemisphere. If this snake were to bite me I would be dead in a matter of seconds. Here I am going to pick it so you can get a closer look…”.

My heart goes out to his surviving wife and 2 kids.

I was an outdoor guide for a number of years and grew up in the back country of northern British Columbia. I never heard much of Steve Irwin until I left home, and what I do know of him and the shows I did watch, I thought he was a tad crazy. Now saying that I also think that if he did not know what he was doing then he probably would not have done it. Thus not makeing the best shows an outdoor person would have liked. You see I can say that he was a tad crazy because people say that about me sometimes, but I would not do “the crazy things I do” if I did not know what I was doing either. I think that he educated people and promoted the country of Australia very well and if I was Australian I would be proud of him. I think that he will be sadly missed and I pray for his family and friend. >>> HE WOULD HAVE BEEN QUITE THE MATE.

  3. Curtis Haines says:

It is indeed a sad day to hear that Steve has passed away, I will miss him very much. I have always enjoyed watching some of his crazy antics and commentary with the various animals he worked with on his show when I could catch it, he always amazed me with some of his methods on handling some of the dangerous animals he would work with. My prayers go to his wife, children and his close friends.

  4. Bob Justice says:

Steve was my favorite personality on Animal Planet. He posessed a wealth of knowledge about wildlife, and although his antics may have seemed extreme, it gave him a platform to convey this knowledge to people of all walks and ages. For me this is a wake up call about how temporal life is, and how important it is to be ready to meet God.
My heartfelt sympathy for his wife and two lovely children.

  6. Robby Chafin says:

Steve had a love and understanding for nature that only a very few can understand. His passion for conserving wildlife has been a life-long dream of my own. He actually got to live it! I respect this man more than I have the words to say. For you, Mrs. Irwin, my heart goes out to you especially, you were always there for him. You are a very special person, as was Steve. You both are very special to me and my kids, because the content of your show was real and clean. In other words, I didn’t have to worry about screening, and my daughter absolutely loved you guys. Many, very happy memories……….Dad can still be apart of those kids life, just keep Steve in front of them and let them watch :) Robby Nashville, AR USA

I have to say that Steve Erwin was a big part of my families lives. We watched his shows almost everyday. My son was always saying how Steve would grab a snake or a croc. He will be sadly missed by all of his fans. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, co-workers, and friends. God Rest his soul. We know, as Christians, that God has a reason for everything. I am sure that the animals needed someone special in Heaven and God took Steve Erwin home.

When I heard the news about steve it broke my heart! Ther has never been a person like steve who truley loved animals the way he did and also treated them with such kindness. Every other animal show I’ve seen they ductape crocs eyes & mouths shut and tie their legs up over their back. Steve would never risk hurting one in any way. He was one of a kind!!!!! the only comfort I felt is he died doing what he loved. My prayers are with his wife and kids. I hope they keep their hearts and minds open and the will find he will reach out to them when he can. I feel like I’ve lost one of my family, He will be missed so much

    4 you terri

    You touched our hearts,
    You gave your soul,
And now your not here with us at all.
    You showed us your passion,
    You showed us your love,
And you really fit Australia like a glove.
    You shared your life,
    You shared your fears,
You shared your family with us for years.
But we all lost you on that horrible day,
When that bloody stingray took you away,
From your soulmate that you found along the way,
But here I no you will always stay,
For your love too strong to just float away.
I believe he will hold you once again,
For this is really not the end,
For a soulmates love, so pure as yours,
And lifes journey’s we have to endure,
He is really just standing by the door,
Watching over you and thats for sure.
    With true love for evermore,
Cause thats what Steve was put here for.

Terri you are an insperation to me, and this is for you
