Google Spreedsheets Verses Zoho Sheet

I was excited when Google announced that they had released their beta spreadsheet application but bummed when you had to sign-up for an invitation.

I had become aware of Google’s announcement through TechCrunch who also mentioned that Zoho had been out for a while so I decided to try them.

At first I thought it was really cool that you could post spreadsheets on line and edit them. I uploaded my personal budget spreadsheet so I could share it with my wife. It became apparent from the beginning that Zoho was limited to what it was capable of as far as importing sheets, formulas, and formatting.

Then, last night I wanted to look at my budget but the spreadsheet portion of their site was down. A call to their 24 hour support number got me voice mail.

Today I went to the site and it was up so I uploaded a different budget that I worked on in Excel. When I tried opening it I got a totally different spreadsheet that was not mine! Not cool.

A quick search for Google Spreadsheet came up with Google spreadsheet and it was working, no more invitation email box - cool.

Right off the bat Google’s program works a million times better. First, it is faster. Second, it has more formatting and formula options so I did not lose anything in my import like with Zoho. Finally their sharing options is a whole lot more simple then Zoho.

Zoho has some cool stuff but I do not see them being around for very long if they do not fix their issues.

    Arvind,

Thank you for the reply. I think that it is good when a company researches themselves on the interent to get feedback.

I hope you can get the issues you are having fixed and give Google a run for their money.
