Best Buy Camping - It’s Getting Cold…

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

So it’s 10:45 - 5 hour into the stay out here at Best Buy. Only 6 hours to go and it is starting to get cold. The actual temperature is not cold but a breeze has picked up from the south which is making it cold.

The people that are in line with us are really nice. Everyone keeps each other’s place for restroom and food breaks. Word has come in that the other Best Buy stores around the city are way more busy then this one.

We had the occaisional person stop buy and do a count for what everyone is waiting for but nobody has done that for a few hours. I would estimate that there are at least 100 people here now. I am really interested to see how many people show up.

Also, someone was really smart and brought an extension cord to keep their laptop charged so they can watch movies. I have been having to alternate between my portable DVD player and my laptop charging in the car. Next year I will definitely bring the extension cord.

All-in-all the wait was gone buy really quick. I am not sure if I will slepp tonight but we will see. I probably will not post again until tomorrow morning.

See ya.

Blogging Live from Best Buy

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

That’s right I am blogging live from the line in front of Best Buy on Thanksgiving day.

I was not going to show up here until 10pm tonight but I drove by at 4:30pm and there where already 4 people in line. I got here about 5:45pm and am the 9th person in line. I am here to get the 22″ Westinghouse LCD monitor, Sandisk MP3 Player, and a 1GB memory stick. My bro-in-law is getting the $250 Toshiba laptop.

How could I be blogging from here? This shopping center has free wireless that’s how. Currently the the sun has gone down and it is a nice 68 degrees. It could get cold tonight but I am well prepared with blankets, jackets, and snacks.

I will blog latter with an update.

Hercules Hooks - The Strength of Hercules in Hooks - $14.88

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

UPDATE: THIS HERCULES HOOKS SET NOW COMES WITH A FREE LASER LEVEL!

Since I get a lot of traffic on this website for the Hercules Hooks I decided to search the internet to see if they really work.

Hercules Hooks as been tested along with several other As Seen On TV products and has passed with flying colors. KLTV 7 news tried the Hercules Hooks and found that it worked as advertised and was actually pretty easy to use. The full article by KLTV 7 can be see here.

So what would you use the Hercules Hooks for? I know one thing that it would come in handy for - hanging up Christmas decorations up in the house. If all you have to do is take the Hercules Hooks and press it into the wall then putting up decorations would be really quick.

The other thing the Hercules Hooks could be used for would be around the garage. If you garage is like mine it has drywall in it. I don’t know about you but I have a lot of things sitting around on top of my work bench that the Hercules Hook could take care of.

I guess the biggest thing that makes the Hercules Hooks unique is that they are so simple to use. All you have to do is take the hook, press it into your drywall, twist, and it is ready to use.

It doesn’t get much easier then that!

In my search around the internet I tried to find the most reputable company to buy the Hercules Hooks from for the best price. You can get the Hercules Hook and the Free Laser Level at amazon.com for $14.95 which is a deal.

Happy hanging with the Hercules Hooks!

Getting Ready to Camp Out at Best Buy

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

So as you have probably heard Black Friday is around the corner. I have never been caught up in this crazy day after Thanksgiving thing in the past but this year things are changing.

The first reason for the change is that I actually have some cash to blow on whatever I want. The second reason is this - the 22″ Westinghouse LCD monitor that is usually $500 that is going to be on sale at Best Buy for $200.

I have looked and looked and this is an incredible deal on this monitor. These are the reasons I order why this deal is so awesome: (more…)

AOL Video - It Sucks

Monday, November 20th, 2006

I read an article about being able to see full length videos of sitcoms and other shows at the new AOL video site so headed over to check it out. Sure enough they had several different videos from such places as The History Channel, TBS, and MTV.

I clicked on an episode of Modern Marvels and was presented with a popup screen that said that I needed a plugin for their videos to work with my Firefox browser. No problem I thought as I clicked on the link to install the plugin.

If only it were that simple…

No matter what I did I could not get to the page for the plugin that they said I need to view their video.

Bottom line - I left their site after 10 frustrating minutes of trying to get to the site to install the plugin in need to view their video.

Nice work AOL! Glad you didn’t steer from your usually way of making things 10 times more difficult then they need to be!

Making Good Coffee at Home

Monday, November 20th, 2006

I like coffee. No, let me say that different - I like GOOD coffee.

There is a difference.

The difference is that when you take a sip of good coffee you have to stop and enjoy it because it tastes so good. Regular everyday coffee is something that you just drink quickly to get the effect of the caffeine.

For Christmas I would really like to have a good coffee machine that I can make good Cafe Mochas with. To decide which coffee machine I would need I did a little research.

What I found out was that I would need an Espresso coffee maker but that it would not need to be that expensive since I want it for Mochas and Lattes. The difference between a regular coffee maker is that the espresso machines boil the water at a much higher temperature then a regular coffee maker. Since the water is so much hotter it releases more of the favor of the coffee for a much butter taste.

This is definitely something that is going on my Christmas list!

J.C. Penny to Open New Store in Round Rock

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Today I saw a story that J.C. Penny is now jumping on the Round Rock retail band wagon and is going to open a store next to the new Ikea.

I think that is really cool since J.C. Penny would not draw people to Rock Rock on its own but can gain business by being next to Ikea. Also, people that are coming to the Ikea would probably not come to the outlet mall but since they are already there for Ikea then they might just stop by.

It is nice to live in a place that is focused on the future and growing the local economy.

A Much Better South Park Episode

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

My brother-in-law told me about the World of Warcraft South Park (1008) episode so I went and found it on YouTube.

I have to say that this is a much better episode then the one that was on last night especially if you are into games. The funniest part about it is that you do have to have no life in order to be good at any game. Then if you choose to have a life and not play the game then people get better and you suck at the game.

Anyway, enjoy.

The Worst South Park Episode I’ve Seen

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

Last nights episode of South Park was just terrible.

The reason I say that is because it just wasn’t funny - at all.

To sum it up it was about Stan having to teach a Pee-Wee hockey team because his bike gets towed for unpaid parking tickets. The kids obviously suck and one of them has cancer.

The cancer kid asks them to win for him but they lose and the kid dies. Also there are 2 lame Steve Irwin jokes also.

It seems like the writers where having an off week or something.

Here is a link to the episode if you want to judge for yourself - South Park Episode 1014.

Radio Reception in Austin Sucks

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

I love Texas. It is so much better then California in so many ways, except one (well 2 if you count the way people drive around here).

That one way is the FM and AM radio reception.

In all honesty it reminds me of how bad the cell phone reception was in Cali.

It is just terrible here. I do not live far from downtown Austin (within 20 miles). I work even closer. But if I want to listen to the local radio I am bound to have some sort of interference in one spot or another. (more…)
