Personalized Baby Name Pictures

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

I came across this site and while I am not usually into the arts and craft thing my wife definitely is. It is a personalised baby gift that makes the letters of a baby’s name and spells them out with different items such as flowers and butter flies for girls and trucks and airplanes for boys.

This is a really cool thing to give as a baby shower gift for new parents to hang in their child’s nursery. I am going to suggest to my wife that we get one each for my son and daughter to hang in their rooms.

Today is the Day - The Toll Roads Open

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Even as I type this the Toll Roads here in central Texas are being opened up. I am hoping that the Mopac section is opened by the time I get off work.

I have really been looking forward to these opening up for some time. I am expecting that it is going to cut my commute time down to 25 minutes.

Cool.

Car GPS for Tracking Your Teenager

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

I recently saw an episode of CIS where a guy was drinking and driving and hit someone and killed them. They where able to catch they guy because he had a GPS Tracker in his car that tracked his movements and also sent alerts when it detected an impact. I was think that this would be great to keep your eye on teenagers as they start to drive.

Just think of it, it is 11:30 at night and your teenager was supposed to be home at 11pm and they have not called. You are calling them but they are not answering. What do you do? With a teen tracking gps you can find out where your teenager is and go find them. As cool as the police are they have no way to pin point you teenager the way that a GPS system can.

I have 3 little ones that will all be driving around the same time. You better believe that when they start driving that one of these will be in each of their cars.

Anyway BrickHouseSecurity has a lot of information about the various GPS systems available and seems to be the leader in the GPS Tracking area. Check them out.

Fall in Round Rock

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Fall LeafIt is so nice now that the 90-100 degree weather has finally blown out of Central Texas.

You can finally go to the park in the middle of the day to let the kids play. The sun is shining but there is a slight breeze that keeps the temperature in the mid 70’s. Also the electricity bill is a cool $100 less then it was last month. All these things together

make it really nice.

This will be our first winter here in Round Rock and I am hoping that it doesn’t get too cold.

Round Rock Cinemark 14 Movie Theater - My Review

Monday, October 30th, 2006

So my wife and I finally cashed in our free Grand Opening tickets to the Round Rock Cinemark Movie theater that is located by the Round Rock Outlet Mall.

I was excited to go as I have been less then impressed by the movie theaters that we have gone to here in Texas so far. I was used to the AMC and Edwards theaters in California that where new, modern, and very big (the one that we frequented ofter had 40 theaters in it). Anyway I was hoping to get a nice new theater like that here and I did, kind of. (more…)

I Got My MP3 Player from Napster

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Sweet, I got my MP3 player from Napster and it is really cool.

I was a little concerned that it would be big in size but it is one of the smallest MP3 Players that I have seen. Just a recap it is a 512mb MP3 Player that I got free from Napster for signing up with their service for 3 months. The service is $14.95 a month but lets you download as many songs and albums as you want. I guess they control that through the Windows Media Player DRM license thing.

Anyway, it cam with the USB cable and head phones (which I replaced right away with my Sony headphones). I was able to instantly downloaded Napster on my home computer and transfer of on the albums that I had already downloaded on my laptop. Now I am able to listen in my car or while at Starbucks studying.

If all goes well I may go for the 1GB on for $50 and sell this one.

Fancy Dress Costumes for Halloween

Monday, October 30th, 2006

So everyone at me work is dressing up for Halloween and I totally forgot about it. Therefore I am in the mad dash to try and find a costume that doesn’t look like I threw it together at the last minute. I started doing some searches on the internet to get some ideas and came across escapade.co.uk that has several Fancy Dress costumes that look really nice.

I found several cool costumes that I had never seen offered before like Chewbacca, a car air freshener, and Darth Vader. Their prices look pretty good although it is a little late for me to order online to have the costume for tomorrow.

Oh well, it looks as though I will need to pull whatever I can out of the closet to try and make it by.

Steve Irwin on South Park - Video

Friday, October 27th, 2006

I saw the South Park Episode on Wednesday night where Satan was having a Halloween party and Steve Irwin showed up. The part was pretty funny IF you like South Park.

The issue is that people are really getting in a uproar about the show because of Steve “cameo”. The thing that irks me is that most of the people that as saying something probably did not see the episode or have never seen South Park.

I really like Steve Irwin and respect him and in my opinion so do the producers at South Park. Why do I say that? Because they can be really raw and in this episode they where total cool and understanding.

What happened in the episode was that a bouncer for the part came up to Satan and told him that there was a guy that came to the party dressed like Steve Irwin. Satan did not think that was cool and went to talk to the guy. Satan told him that it was a little soon to be dressing up like that since Steve had just died a couple months ago. Then of course Steve tells Satan that it is really him and then gets thrown from the party for not dressing up.

I think if people would take a step back and look at it in context they would would not be upset.

Below is the episode in 3 parts. The part with Steve Erwin is in the 2nd part at about the 5 minute 30 second mark.

Part 1

Part 2 - Steve is at the 5 minute 30 second mark.

Part 3

The Weather in Texas

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

I have been in Texas 8 months now and am still amazed at how it can change from day-to-day.

Last week we had a cold front come down from Colorado which turned the temperature from the 90’s to the 70’s in one day. It not only changed the temperature outside but it brought the usual crazy thunderstorms (I am used to those now).

Today it is raining and is a more normal type of rain then what is usually here. Usually the rain will come down like someone is dumping a bucket over your head. Also the rain will last for about an hour until another “cell” comes and then you have the bucket affect again. Today’s rain is nice and steady even though the temperature is supposed to be in the mid 70’s and then be in the mid 80’s tomorrow.

The weather around here is definitely not boring!

Exploring the East Coast Now that We are in Texas

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

As mentioned several times we moved to Texas this past year and because of that a whole new world has opened up to us. I was forwarded this web site to possible check out exploring North Carolina. I had never considered either of the Carolinas until I saw this web site - NC Beaches.

I was instantly taken back by the photos that were throughout the site but as I went further I would a little hard to get general information for the different areas that the site covers. (more…)
