emusic.com Sucks

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

I am usually not that critical of companies unless they do something really bad but emusic.com has done just that.

What have they done you may ask. What they did was exist. I mean why as a company are you going to exist if NOBODY wants what you are offering.

emusic.com is supposed to offer MP3’s for download. If you signup you get a 14 day trial where you get 25 free download. Cool right? Yeah I thought so. So I signed up and started search for music.

I searched for some Christians artists that I look but could not find them. No biggy, I know Christian artists are not always that popular. So I search for other regular artists like Lenny Kravitz and Depeche Mode. No dice.

In fact they did not have anyone I would even consider listening to. I do not even know anyone that would listen to the music they offered.

Lame

Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time with them.

Walmart’s Answer to the Energy Crunch

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

There has been a lot of press in the last few months about how Walmart is determined to “go green”. I think it is really cool because Walmart has the influence to make it happen and rally others to do the same.

Their latest announcement is that they have set the goal to sell one compact fluorescent bulb to each of their 100 million regular customers. They estimate that they can have a significant impact on energy use in the US.

The full article can be read here - Wal-Mart Aims To Sell 100 Million Compact Fluorescents In One Year

I have about 10 of these bulbs in my house for the energy savings and the fact that they last 3-4 times longer then a standard bulb. The florescent 60 watt equivalent only uses 14 watts.

That is a big difference when you multiply it by 10 at my house. Also, the florescent 60 watt seems to be brighter then a standard bulb while not being as harsh.

One Touch Can Opener - No More Nasty Cuts

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

You have to thank God that someone finally came up with this type of can opener.

It’s called the One Touch Can Opener. This thing is the bomb.

You do not have to worry about metal lid falling in the can with this thing because it cuts the side of the can instead. I know I am not the only one that’s been opening a can and have the dusty lid fall into the can - there goes dinner.

Also, and this is gross I know, but you do not have to worry about cutting your finger getting the lid out (I am cringing while I type this - insert sound of little girl screaming here).

Ok, enough of that. This thing will save you from all things wicked that attempt to part you from that can of pork n’ beans. Get one.

Mega Rain in Round Rock Today

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Man, it was raining hard this morning before I came to work. I looked up on the news how long it was going to last and found that we had only had the first wave of 2 that was coming our way and the second one was bigger!

The thing about this storms was that it was dumping about 5-6 inches of rain an hour. That means that we got at least 9 inches of rain this morning from the time that I woke up to the time that I left for work.

The cool thing about that is that I should not need to water the lawn this weekend :-) .

Attack of the Gnomes!

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

I got word that this web site was taken over by Gnomes and now they are trying to off load them.

The word on the street is that if you enter the coupon code “gnome-bloggers” (without the quotes) that you will get a 10% discount at checkout.

I am thinking about picking up this guy to stand at my front door.

Messin with Sasquatch - Mega Funny

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

The Beef Jerky company Jack Links had some mega funny commercials that are called “Messin with Sasquatch”.

They range from loosening the cap of a salt shaker to putting shoe polish on the eye piece rubber of a pair of binoculars.

My favorite one is labeled “Water Bowl” which I did not see on TV but on their web site specifically for these commercials. In this episode they soak a sleeping Sasquatch’s hand in water which causes him to pee all over one of the guys.

You can check out the the web site here -

Christian Family Blog - Number One in Google Search Results in Two Days

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

You may have seem my post - Christian Family Blog - My Blog about Raising My Family as Christians - in which it was my goal to dislodge a atheist web site for being in the number one position for the term “Christian Family Blog”.

Well in 2 days I succeeded.

The above mention post is now number one for the term “Christian Family Blog” and I am pretty sure that in the next few days that this post will probably bump it down to the number 3 spot.

Why would I want to do this? The reason is simple. If people are really looking for a blog about a Christian family they do not want to find an atheists web site. Just today I have gotten several hits on this site and my The Abundant Life web site from people who were looking for a Christian family blog.

I hope more Christians step up and get their sites to the top so people can find what they are really looking for.

George Foreman Grill - Good for Eating Healthy and Loosing Weight

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

Since my wife proclaimed that she was going to start to loose weight I have noticed that she is not taking me up on my offers of ice cream or Mochas at Baskin Robins.

The other thing that I noticed is that she pulled our George Foreman Grill back out and has been using that to cook dinner.

I know the reason that she is doing that - with the George Foreman Grill you get a fraction of the fat and grease that you do when cooking in a pan. All the grease just falls in between the grooves and away from the meat.

The coolest things about it is that the food actually taste better. It is nice to see my wife get serious about all of us eating healthier.

Adsense - I broke a Dollar Today!

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

Wow! I actually made a dollar today from Adsense.

The reason why this is such a big deal is that before today I had only made $5 over the last month or so.

That is really cool.

The thing is that it came from this site too (I have several sites under the same Adsense account).

I really think that is has to do with the new ad style that I went with from Ontok. Their system is not as intrusive as regular Adsense blogs right in front of your face and I think that makes a difference.
