Advantages of VoIP over Traditional Phone Lines
I currently use a form of VoIP at home through Time Warner and actually use equipment from Cisco at work for VoIP.
The biggest difference at home that I see is the price. At home I have unlimited long distance in the US and Canada. This would be cool by itself but the price is what really makes it cool. I have it bundled with internet access and HD digital cable for about $100/month. That price rocks!
At work VoIP ties or office all over the US together to where I only need to dial someone’s extension to get them anywhere in the US. The other thing about our setup at work is the sound quality. I have a stereo headset and the sound quality is excellent. You can always tell when someone on the line is calling from a regular land line because of the lack clarity compared to the VoIP phone.
VoIP save my company money because all the calls are routed internally so they never go out to the phone companies phone switches. It also saves me money at home for the same reasons. My calls stay on Time Warner network until they get to a switching station that is not long distance for the number that I am calling thus bypassing the long distance charges.
VoIP is definitely the wave of the future. I say jump on board and start saving now!
